I have been working in the Spa industry for 18 years. I came out of a Sales and Marketing background in the Publishing and Technology industries. After teaching Yoga at the Esalen Institute and practicing as a certified massage therapist in the Bay area and Big Sur Californian I opened and ran the concession for the Spa at the now famous Post Ranch Inn. Last year Zagat voted The Post Ranch Inn the number one luxury Inn in the world. There I hired, and created a program with hiking, yoga and multiple spa therapies for interesting group of international clientele. We had a crew of 43 when I sold the Spa business after 7 years since I had started a new more complete self contained operation called The Spa on the Plaza www.spaontheplaza.com at the remarkable Portola Hotel & Spa in Monterey. We have been voted the “Best Spa” in the community the last 5 out of 6 years (this category was only created 6 years ago). We are the oldest spa in the Monterey area: it will be 10 years as of 2007. In 2002 I opened another Spa at the Monterey Marriott www.montereyescape.com. Both hotels are connected together and work with the Monterey Convention Center which lies between them near Monterey’s historical Custom House Plaza and beautiful downtown and waterfront. Over the past 10 years I have also consulted for spas from Tahiti through Sausalito, CA.
